Cal Ripken Baseball is the 4 year old to 12 year old division of Babe Ruth League, Inc. Southeastern is one of three Cal Ripken leagues in Lexington. Southeastern's district boundaries are illustrated on the "Coverage Maps" page of this site.

League age is defined by Babe Ruth League, Inc. , the current rule defines league age as the player's age on April 30th. For example, next Spring, if a child turns 7 on or before April 30th, 2006, he or she will play in the Rookie league as a 7 year-old. If a child turns 7 on or after May 1st, 2006, he or she will play in T-Ball as a 6 year-old.

T-Ball is for 4 & 6 year-olds. Players hit the ball off a tee. All participants get to bat and play in the field. The league provides a major league logo hat and shirt and hires umpires for each game. Teams play a regular season schedule followed by a league tournament. For questions about T-Ball, call Eric Dewalt, VP-245.5106, or Rob McGeorge, Manager's Rep, 273.6311

Rookie League for 7 & 8 year-olds is Coach Pitch. All participants get to bat. There are no more than 11 players in the field each inning. All players are guaranteed at least two innings in the field. The league provides a major league logo hat and shirt and hires umpires for each game. Teams play a regular season schedule followed by a league tournament. For questions about Rookie, call Kenny Gant, VP-489.1138, or David Combs, Manager's Rep, 539.1539.

Minor League and Major League is for 9-12 year-olds. Players pitch to players. Players in this age group go through try-outs and a draft. There are 10 major league teams with 13 players per team. Major coaches draft players based on their skill level, physical development and desire to play at a high level of competition. Once drafted by a major league team, the player remains on that team. Although playing time is not guaranteed in the major league, 9 & 10 year-olds play a schedule of "junior major" games. Those players not drafted by a major league team will be drafted by a minor league team. Players who need more time to develop or simply prefer a less stressful game, may opt out of the major league draft to play in the minor league. For questions about the Minor and Major Leagues, Jim Blackwell at 859-245-5253, or Art Donahue, Manager's Rep, 509-34466
